Effects of Window Status and Indoor Plants on Air Quality, Air Temperature, and Relative Humidity: A Pilot Study

Few empirical studies have examined the simultaneous effects of window opening and indoor plants on air characteristics. This study compared four variables, day/night, status, plant distance, number plants, characteristics in a room at basement via experiments. was because perform photosynthesis during day, which produces O2 absorbs CO2, whereas they usually produce only CO2 night. Moreover, higher potted shorter distance to are expected generate greater purification outcomes. Results included: (1) day night, ventilation created by outperformed transpiration from temperature reduction humidity enhancement; (2) placing either three or eight exhibited performance reducing particulate matter (PM2.5 PM10) TVOC levels than window; (3) (1.5 m) proved more effective reduction, enhancement, purification, longer (3.0 discovered effect PM2.5 PM10 reduction; (4) significantly increasing humidity.
